Asheville NC’s Papadosio brought down the Fox last night celebrating their latest release T.E.T.I.O.S. (To Eliminate The Illusion Of Separation). This jamtronica quintet blew minds at Sonic Bloom in June, delivering one of the more memorable sets of the weekend, and last nights show reaffirmed their epicness to a nearly full house of rowdy, smiling fans.
The night started with a short DJ set from Octopus Nebula’s Robin Bloch. Despite the lack of a crowd, Robin’s heavy bass lines and spacey driving beats had the few early-birds getting down and dirty. When joined on stage by the rest of the band, the venue was filled and the tone had been set for the heavy-set electro-jam stylings that the Colorado scene has come to expect from the Nebula. Hoots and hollers from the crowd punctuated the multi-layered genre-defying set, reassuring the local four-piece that the vibes they were generating were being received and appreciated. If you haven’t seen Octopus Nebula yet at one of their many sets around the state, definitely grab tickets to one of the remaining Papadosio/ Octopus Nebula shows around the state this weekend.
Papadosio took the stage to an uproar of cheers and whistles and quickly got things underway with transcendent keyboards, ethereal vocals, and complex fractal based visuals. Whether you’re into jam music or not, Papa-d can put a smile on anyone’s face, offering up cheerful, uplifting melodies garnished with the most positive, feel-good vocal harmonies you can imagine, all paired excellently with artful visual effects projected above the band.
The message of unity and togetherness shed an extra layer of warmth on the crowd as they emptied into the cold Boulder night. Many will continue to follow Papadosio around the state for the next few nights and I am definitely wishing I could as well. Papadosio is the epitome of feel-good music and we will be sure to catch them the next time they roll through! Thanks to Andrew for the passes and remember to stay Rowdy Colorado!
