Recently relocated Denver based jam monsters The Malah kicked off their ILLUMIN8 tour with a kick-ass show at the Fox in Boulder last thursday night. Local supergroup Tiger Party, featuring members of Octopus Nebula and Signal Path, got things going strong with a memorable jamtronica set featuring a crunchy rendition of Justice’s ‘Genesis’ followed by what sounded like a slight tease of The Wall. Needless to say the venue was buzzing between sets as all the late arrivers were kicking themselves for underestimating Tiger Party’s awesomeness.
Matt and Kim have been going hard since the release of their latest album ‘Lightning’ and it doesn’t look like they’re stopping anytime soon. With shows scheduled through the beginning of March, this indie-dance duo manages to bring truckloads of energy to the stage night after night, and with catchy hooks and creative covers, they have yet to leave us disappointed. We were lucky enough to send a photographer to their show earlier this month at The Ogden and from the looks of his shots, the show was not one to miss. If you, like myself, didn’t make the Ogden show then never fear! They are scheduled to be back in the C-O March 1st with Passion Pit (Grab Tickets Here). Check out our gallery from the Ogden below and we’ll see you at the 1st Bank Center in March! Peace!
Gramatik throws down yet again! The sampling master hit the Fillmore Saturday with a more than standard set that had the crowd smiling and grooving all night. He is back in full force, ready for his fall tour 2012, debuting a new stage set up inspired by the tesla coil that will not disappoint, topping it off with his new track “Digital Liberation Is Mad Freedom”, altogether making a show that is not to be missed!
Asheville NC’s Papadosio brought down the Fox last night celebrating their latest release T.E.T.I.O.S. (To Eliminate The Illusion Of Separation). This jamtronica quintet blew minds at Sonic Bloom in June, delivering one of the more memorable sets of the weekend, and last nights show reaffirmed their epicness to a nearly full house of rowdy, smiling fans.
Trip-hop guru Emancipator (Douglas Appling) returned to Boulder with violinist Ilya Goldberg to play a sold-out show at The Fox on Friday. Emancipator has become a local favorite in Colorado, playing both Sonic Bloom in Georgetown as well as a sold-out Red Rocks show this summer as an opener for Lotus. The combination of Doug’s original, organic production and Ilya’s emotive violin give a soundtrack quality to Emancipator’s live show that seems to always keep an audience transfixed on the stage. Combined with brand new projection mapping and an all-too-eager Boulder crowd, Friday night’s show was easily one of the most profound Emancipator experiences you could ever hope to have.
