Mumford and Sons ‘Road to Red Rocks’ Film Announcement

We all know that Red Rocks is one of the best venues in the entire world for both artists and audience. It comes as no surprise then that one of the most popular groups we have seen in recent history is releasing a live DVD of their 2012 summer stop at the famous amphitheater. Mumford and Sons will follow in the path of Dave Matthews Band, U2, Stevie Nicks, Umphrey’s McGee, Incubus, and many others in their documentation of their Morrison performance, and will do so all without the use of a drummer. Slated for release in the states January 22nd, the deluxe DVD package will include a Vinyl of the live performance, a 98 page tour book, a special edition release of their most recent album ‘Babel’ as well as the DVD itself, all for $87.50 over at the Mumford & Sons store. Check out both of the pre-release music videos from the DVD and don’t forget to pre-order while you still can!

AEG and Icelantic skis have teamed up again for the 2nd annual Winter on the Rocks concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater featuring performances from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Major Lazer, The Grouch and Eligh, and Neelais. Following last years sold-out performance from Atmosphere, this years lineup looks like it may have the cojones to top the first ever winter event at Red Rocks, and given Macklemore’s upcoming SOLD OUT shows at The Aggie and The Ogden, tickets for this event probably won’t last long. Pick up at their website here and we’ll see you on the rocks!

PHOTOS / PREVIEW : Matt and Kim

Matt and Kim have been going hard since the release of their latest album ‘Lightning’ and it doesn’t look like they’re stopping anytime soon. With shows scheduled through the beginning of March, this indie-dance duo manages to bring truckloads of energy to the stage night after night, and with catchy hooks and creative covers, they have yet to leave us disappointed. We were lucky enough to send a photographer to their show earlier this month at The Ogden and from the looks of his shots, the show was not one to miss. If you, like myself, didn’t make the Ogden show then never fear! They are scheduled to be back in the C-O March 1st with Passion Pit (Grab Tickets Here). Check out our gallery from the Ogden below and we’ll see you at the 1st Bank Center in March! Peace!

PLM artist Gramatik will be debuting his new stage production, dubbed “The Coil”, at his headlining show at The Fillmore Auditorium tomorrow with Talib Kweli and Mux Mool. Exactly what ‘The Coil’ is, we do not know, but hints on his facebook lead us to believe it has something to do with the Tesla Coil, an invention of the master of AC current Nikola Tesla, and an incredible spectacle to behold. If this is indeed a real Tesla coil, I can’t imagine the logistics of making it safe for touring with all the metal and wiring that is usually involved in a typical lighting rig.
